Studio Policy
Goals
Students will improve their singing through the use of body movements, exercises, and vocalization. Students will explore pitch, tone, proper technique and musical expressiveness. Students will learn performance techniques, such as facial expressions, body movement, and emotional expressiveness.
Expectations
Practice is expected in order to succeed. Adults are expected to practice 30+ minutes, 5 days a week. Teens are expected to practice 15-30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
Attendance
Both adult and teen voice lessons occur weekly. Adult private lessons are 45 minutes long, and teen private voice lessons are 30 minutes long.
A semester commitment is expected. Unless extenuating circumstances are involved, terminating lessons in the middle of the semester will result in a cancellation fee of $100. Feel free to talk to me if you are concerned about finishing out the semester. I will work with you to come to the best agreement possible. At the end of each semester, you may continue your lessons into the next semester, or discontinue your lessons.
Semesters are as follows:
January-April
May/June-August
September-December.
If you are unable to make your scheduled lesson time, it is your responsibility to switch lessons with someone else in the studio. Please include me in any communication regarding rescheduling so I can update the schedule. If you are unable to find someone to switch times with, please contact me and I will see if there is anything I can do to reschedule. If you decide to miss your lesson instead of rescheduling, there will be no refund for the missed lesson.
If you are sick, will instead have virtual voice lessons via Zoom. Even if you are sick, we can work on aspects of singing that do not require singing.
If you must cancel your lesson, please give me as much notice as possible. Refunds will not be given for canceled lessons.
Please arrive on time for your lessons. If you are running late, please text me. Missed time due to tardiness will not be made up.
In the event that I need to miss a lesson, I will give you at least 24 hours notice. I will work with you on rescheduling that lesson. If we are unable to find a time to reschedule, the full cost of that lesson will be refunded.
Recital and Masterclass
Each semester involves a masterclass and a recital. Both take place on Saturdays, and both the recital and masterclass are included in your monthly tuition.
The masterclass is an opportunity for students to mingle, make connections, and learn from each other. At the masterclass they will sing for each other and receive feedback from both the instructors and the other students.
At the recital, students will perform the song they have been working on during the semester. Any friends or family are invited to the recital.
Required Materials
A voice recorder or a cell phone with a voice recorder app. (The full lesson will be recorded. It is helpful to use the recording while practicing at home to reinforce skills taught during the lesson.)

Tuition
Adult Voice (Age 18+): $180/month.
Teen Voice (Age 12-17): $120/month.
Payment
Payments will be sent via Wave. You will receive an email on the first of each month with your invoice. You can pay with a credit card or bank account.
Payments will be due on the 8th of each month. Payment after the 8th will result in a $30 late fee.
Each bill will include a surcharge to cover the cost of the processing fees. The surcharges are as follows:
Adolescent Students: $3.50/month
Adult Students: $5.00/month
Housekeeping Items
After the first lesson, parents are not allowed in the studio during lessons. Please plan to wait outside or run errands during lesson time.
Please park in my driveway or on the street directly in front of my house. Those are the two parking spaces zoned for my business.
I have two dogs and one cat. None of the animals will be in the studio during lessons, however, their hair may linger in the studio. Please let me know if you have any allergies at the time of registration.
